In a context where climate change has become a reality and where cities and sustainable and durable infrastructure are in demand worldwide, Eiffage is turning low carbon emission construction into an opportunity to make a difference.

In its Climate Report 2020 the Eiffage Group sets out is commitment to the future and the challenges faced by the company to achieve sustainable growth.
For this purpose, we have designed a responsible strategic plan. Innovation is one of the three pillars of this plan, and is the most effective and legitimate way to act in favour of the ecological and energy transition.
In this context, emphasis should be placed on the E-Face fund, which is the Spanish acronym for “Eiffage – carbon energy arbitration fund”, specifically earmarked to support activities aimed at avoiding carbon on the supply side. This fund finances the cost difference between a regular high-emissions technical solution and an alternative solution with low carbon emissions.

Pioneering strategy
The objective is a global reduction in greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain of the different areas of activity. To ensure that the entire Eiffage Group works to reduce its own carbon footprint, each office will set a target and criteria for measuring its own emissions and, in the first instance, will look at including low emission solutions in their bids.
We turn low carbon construction into an opportunity
We have made the ecological transition and innovation into two key parts of our strategic plan. That is why our innovation policy and our R&D investments are aimed at the low carbon economy. Therefore, our goal is a general reduction in emissions throughout the value chain of our businesses. To achieve this, we must set an example with our own emissions by reducing them significantly. As a construction company, our role is also to help our customers reduce their own emissions by implementing our low-carbon solutions, as much as possible, in line with our strategy and our values.

Eiffage promotes as much reuse and recycling as possible at its sites, which reduces and recovers waste. Selective deconstruction, the internal exchange of good practices and the recycling of specific materials: today, the Group is establishing itself as a major player in the circular economy.
Ecotour
Aware of the importance and need to publicly disclose Eiffage’s sustainable development commitments and guidelines, in October 2019 Valérie David, director of Eiffage’s Department of Sustainable Development and Intra-group Innovation (DDDIT) officially presented the EUROPEAN ECOTOURS as part of the framework of the INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY MANAGERS MEETING of Eiffage Énergie Systèmes.
The ECOTOURS are days when Eiffage’s Department of Sustainable Development and Intra-group Innovation travels to different countries to present the Eiffage Group’s strategic guidelines on carbon emissions, biodiversity, ecological compensation, environmental impact and sustainable innovations.
Spain is the first European country where an international ECOTOUR will be held, in March/April 2020, followed by the Netherlands and Belgium.
