XI Course of Construction in Public Works with speakers with extensive experience and great responsibility in public administration, teachers, and professionals from Eiffage Infraestructuras.

After these years of pandemic, the reactivation of the collaboration agreement between Eiffage Infraestructuras and the University of Granada, has allowed 27 students of the School of Civil Engineering of Granada to participate in the XI Practical Course of Construction in Public Works, inaugurated on May 23rd by the Regional Minister of Development, Infrastructures and Territorial Planning, Marifran Carazo, the General Manager of Eiffage Infraestructuras, Eduardo Fernández Bustillo and the Director of the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Granada, Mónica López.

Throughout the eleven editions of the course, more than 300 students from the University of Granada have had the opportunity to get a closer look at the professional reality of public works thanks to the initiative carried out by Eiffage Infraestructuras and at no cost to the students.

During the opening session of this XI edition, the Regional Minister of Public Works thanked “the firm commitment of Eiffage Infraestructuras with the training of those who will be the professionals of the future, in a strategic sector of the Andalusian economy such as public works” and urged companies and universities to activate similar collaboration initiatives “that prepare our young people to be competitive in the labor market”.   For his part, the General Manager of Eiffage Infraestructuras, Eduardo Fernández Bustillo, encouraged the students to “discover in public works not only a livelihood, but also an opportunity to contribute to the social welfare and competitiveness of the territory”.

In this edition, the students have learned about the characteristics and challenges of the sector through senior representatives of the administration and public entities, professors, and researchers from the University, as well as professionals from Eiffage Infraestructuras who have participated in this edition.

 

Over the course of five days, the university students were able to learn more about career opportunities in the sector, operations in the construction and maintenance of roads and hydraulic infrastructures, and the application of environmental conservation and occupational risk policies. They were also able to visit Eiffage Infraestructuras works and quarries in Seville, Granada and Almeria, such as the Almanzora highway.

Nearly 30 professionals from different entities and branches of public works participated in the various round tables, including the President of the Association of Engineers, Canals and Ports, Miguel Ángel Carrillo; the Director General of Infrastructures of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Enrique Catalina; the Director of the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation, Nuria Jiménez; the Secretary General for the Environment, Water and Climate Change of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Sergio Arjona; and the Director of the Port Authority of Málaga, José Miguel Moyano, among others.
