The FOPA awards recognize the most significant projects, both for their technical complexity and their impact on the environment in which they are produced. From the point of view of the president of FOPA, all the works submitted to the competition and many of those that have participated have a “clear positive effect on society as a whole for what they are, for what they represent and for the usefulness of what they generate”.

The celebration of the XVI FOPA Awards Gala, held yesterday at the Provincial Auditorium of the Province of Alicante (ADDA), was attended by the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, as well as the president of the Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón, and the mayors of Alicante and Elche, Luis Barcala and Carlos González, in addition to the vice president of the Consell, Aitana Mas, and the president of the Federation of Public Works Companies of Alicante (Fopa), Javier Gisbert.  The gala has become an act of recognition of the high level of public works developed in the province of Alicante, as well as the need to continue investing in the generation of infrastructures necessary for the socioeconomic development of the province of Alicante.

During the ceremony, the jury awarded a Special Mention to the “Pedestrianization of the Plaza de Baix and Corredora Street” project. Work promoted by the City Council of Elche and carried out by Eiffage Infraestructuras. This work is part of the pedestrianization process of the historic center of Alicante, which suffered the traffic of more than 1.8 million vehicles per year.

In addition, in this new edition, the Federation of Public Works Companies of Alicante (Fopa) has given a new boost to its traditional awards, with a prize awarded by the public. Apart from the prizes decided by the jury, this year for the first time the Special Prize of the Public has been awarded, decided based on the votes received by the different works in the competition by telematic means. Thanks to all the votes received, Eiffage Infraestructuras has been awarded the ‘Public’s Prize’ for the best public work in the province in 2022. The winning project was the expansion of the Camilo Cano Sports City in La Nucia, promoted by the town council itself and executed by Eiffage Infraestructuras with the drafting and design of the project by Jose Luis Campos Rosique. The project involves the construction of a new grass soccer field, as well as a professional athletics track, the accesses to this new area, the stands, and the changing rooms. The project of La Nucia has received about 30% of the votes cast by the public, the majority support of the nearly 2,700 participants in the vote, which has been carried out online.
