The five photovoltaic plants that Eiffage Energía Sistemas has constructed for Elawan Energy between the municipalities of Bonete and Higueruela, Albacete Province, have entered operation, each with a power of 50 MWp.
These plants will supply around 122,000 homes with an estimated annual production of 96.5 GW and will avoid the emission of over 187,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Over 600 jobs were created during its construction, plus another 30 maintenance jobs, as Eiffage Energía Sistemas will also be in charge of the maintenance of this wind farm for the next 20 years.
The energy generated will be transformed by around 67 inverters and electricity production will be centralised in a single power station, fitted out with three transformers.
In addition, a 3,400 metre long transmission line has been constructed to connect to the renewable energy facility, and several existing renewable energy facilities in the area already feed into it.
Wind farms
Eiffage Energía Sistemas has also built three other wind farms, a substation and a transmission line in the province of Albacete. Specifically in the areas known as San José, Hoya de la Galera and Cueva Negra in the municipalities of Bonete, Montealegre del Castillo, Corral Rubio and Chinchilla de Montearagón.
These wind farms are named Derramador, Frontones and Fuente Álamo and each produce 50 MW. The parks are already in operation.
EPC company
This project was awarded to Eiffage Energía Sistemas in 2020 under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) contract. It should be noted that the business is one of the leading EPC companies in the world, and among the top Operation and Maintenance companies.
Wiki-Solar ranks Eiffage Energía Sistemas as the fifth largest EPC company in the world and the sixth-largest in terms of Operation and Maintenance. Data from the latest ranking of leading utility-scale solar construction partners.
Thanks to its team and the trust of its customers, the company is ranked among the top companies in the world: the top company in France; the second best in Europe and the second best in the world in terms of installed power and O&M since 2019.
Moreover, as the figures show, Eiffage Energía Sistemas is one of the companies that has built the most renewable facilities in Spain: 94 wind farms, with a total installed power of more than 3.5 GW; and 98 photovoltaic plants, with more than 3.2 GW of capacity, accounting for more than 80% of the Eiffage Group’s renewables business worldwide. This is how the company, headquartered in Albacete, avoids the emission of more than 15 million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere per year, contributing to the energy transition as a strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by no later than 2050.
